What is the PicoSure Focus laser? How is it different from other resurfacing lasers?
The PicoSure is a picosecond laser. It uses extremely short pulses of light energy to target pigmentation and damaged skin. Because pulses are so brief, this helps reduce damage to surrounding tissues and hyper-focus the treatment effects. This reduces downtime and improves patient comfort. The PicoSure is appropriate for concerns ranging from hyperpigmentation to scarring to tattoo removal.
Fractional skin resurfacing lasers are more aggressive on the skin than the PicoSure Focus. This means a more uncomfortable treatment process and a more involved period of downtime.

The PicoSure laser is ideal for a wide range of skin types – including those typically tricky to treat. Benefit #2: It corrects hyperpigmentation and other discoloration
The PicoSure laser breaks up the pigment found in brown spots, age spots, and freckles. During your laser facial, discoloration is penetrated with short bursts of light energy. That energy then breaks up the melanin into particles that are small enough for the body to absorb naturally. Over time, the body gradually removes the fragmented melanin, which leads to unwanted discoloration disappearing. The PicoSure can remove pigmented lesions caused by sun damage in addition to other difficult to treat conditions, including melasma and acne pigmentation.

A unique Focus Lens in the PicoSure Laser allows treatment to efficiently and effectively remove most impurities from the surface of your skin. Benefit #5: There’s little to no downtime or discomfort
Traditional lasers cause redness and tenderness for several days following treatment. With the PicoSure, there is almost no discomfort during the treatment itself, and no downtime following. A slight tingling sensation will be felt as the laser energy passes over the skin. Immediately after your treatment, most patients experience no discomfort. Slight redness in the treated areas may appear, but this should disappear entirely after one to three hours.
When You Can Expect To See Results
Unlike other treatments, the PicoSure Laser Facial results in little to no redness. Immediately following your treatment, we recommend that you avoid direct sun exposure and use SPF protection (as always!). It is safe to reapply makeup and return to regular activities the same day as your treatment. Not only is there little to no redness but there will typically not be any peeling.
PicoSure Facial sessions are performed in sessions spaced a month apart. Minor changes will be noticeable after one session; however, three sessions are often necessary to see full results.
