Dermal Fillers
*
While our faces are initially round and youthful, volume loss is inevitable as we age. Your cheeks and lips lose some of their fullness as your skin loses hydrating, tissue-boosting substances. With dermal fillers, patients can pursue new sources of facial support, and see a volume boost across the face.*
How Dermal Fillers Smooth Wrinkles*
- Your facial structure is supported by more than bone and tissue. Water also plays an important role, especially in the roundness of your cheeks, lips, and lower face.
- As time passes, you lose some of the natural, hydrating substances that provide a volume boost. This can lead to sagging skin and deep lines.
- The most noticeable usually occur around the nose and mouth, though vertical lip lines can also cause frustrations.
- Fillers contain hyaluronan / hyaluronic acid, a biologically compatible complex sugar that actually occurs throughout human cells. Hyaluronan is synthetic and is not derived from animal sources.
- Once the filler is injected, its gel acts as a gentle cushion below the skin, boosting your natural tissues and structures. The hyaluronan also attracts water, increasing hydration in the area and providing a boost.*

Dermal Fillers FAQ
How do dermal fillers work?
Dermal fillers add a hydrating and volumizing substance below the skin. This lifts the skin and rounds key areas of the face to smooth fine lines and wrinkles.
What is in dermal fillers?
Each dermal filler brand has its own specific formulation. We offer a wide range of hyaluronic acid fillers. These contain hyaluronan, a synthetic version of a hydrating substance that occurs naturally in the body. Different types of fillers are appropriate for different areas of the body – lip filler has smaller particles than a filler meant to be injected in the cheeks.
Are dermal fillers painful?
You will experience only minor discomfort during your injections. Our doctor will use a topical anesthetic to help numb the injection sites. Many hyaluronic acid fillers also contain lidocaine to help ensure patient comfort. There will be a sensation of pressure during injection. You may feel slightly sore for 1-2 days following filler injections.
Are dermal fillers safe?
Fillers are safe and effective when administered by a qualified medical professional. Laser Aesthetic Center’s medical doctor performs all filler injections. Dermal fillers are also formulated to be safe for a wide range of individuals with little to no risk of allergic reaction.
What age should you start getting fillers?
Fillers are appropriate for a wide range of patients and cosmetic goals. The majority of patients begin getting filler injections in their 40’s-50’s to correct volume loss, wrinkles and other signs of premature aging. Some patients are interested in fillers in their 20’s or 30’s if they have non-aging-related goals like lip enhancement or improving facial symmetry. Schedule a complimentary consultation to learn more about when it might be ideal for you to start fillers.
Where on your face can you get fillers?
Dermal fillers are appropriate for a wide range of areas. The most popular treatment areas are the cheeks (to lift cheekbones and tighten the facial structure), lips (to enhance the lips’ fullness and also smooth fine lines above and below the lips), and around the nose and mouth (to smooth smile lines or nasolabial folds).
Which filler is right for me?
There are wide ranges of filler options within both the Juvederm and Restylane families; these are appropriate for different areas of the face. Your ideal filler depends on your cosmetic goals and your skin. Your provider will talk through your options at your consultation to decide which filler will deliver the best possible results.
How long will my filler results last?
The length of filler results depends on a few factors: the treatment area, the type of filler, and the depth of injection. Generally speaking, fillers last between 6 months and 18 years. Some, like Voluma, are formulated to be longer-lasting but are only appropriate for the cheeks. Lip fillers tend to wear off the quickest due to how much the lips move. Your provider will help you establish a schedule that best suits your skin so that you can be injected at appropriate intervals.
Can I combine fillers with other cosmetic treatments?
Yes, you can combine fillers with a wide range of noninvasive treatments. Fillers and Botox or Dysport are a common combination, to achieve a liquid facelift. Fillers are also safe in combination with most laser treatments and IPL treatments, as well as superficial chemical peels. We may recommend that you wait 1-2 weeks after a laser treatment before receiving fillers to see how the skin reacts and provide the best possible results.
How much do dermal fillers cost?
Dermal fillers vary in cost. We offer ongoing filler promotions and may be running a current special – get in touch to schedule a complimentary consultation and learn more.
