Evolving Your Skin Care Regimen

Hinsdale skin care clinic
We spend our lives tending to our skin – but do you know if those products are really effective?

We spend our lives agonizing over our skin. Issues like acne, dryness, brown spots, and redness affect our self worth, and impact the way we interact with the world. If you’re facing a long-term skin problem, your quality of life actually suffers (sometimes dramatically). If you’re not happy with the way your skin looks or feels, it’s time to find a new path forward.

The products you use, daily routine you engage in, and other ways you treat your skin might be due for a refresher. Unless you’re completely satisfied with their performance, why not try something new? So many of us fall prey to using the same products for years and years, just because they worked at one point – but your skin is always changing. Take a look at how your skin is reacting, how you feel about your current regimen, and what you’d like to change. When you’re ready to seek out skin care solutions, we’ll be here to help.

Questions to Ask When Evaluating Your Skin Care

  • Do these products do what they’re supposed to? – Seems simple enough, right? But when we get into that product rut, we stop thinking about whether the lineup of cleansers, moisturizers, and creams actually does its job. Think about how your skin looks and feels after use, what the products promise, and whether expectations are in line with real results. If there’s something missing, it’s time to tweak your regimen.
  • Are there times of day when my skin needs more attention than others? – Your skin might be oily at night, dry in the morning, red throughout the day, or exhibit some other less-than-desirable tendency. Pinpointing when it does what will help you realize which type of product you’re in need of, and the time of day to use it.
  • Do I feel like my skin is healthy? – You spend more time with your skin than anyone else. What’s it telling you? Keep a skin journal to identify patterns, and isolate some of the problems behind breakouts, dehydration, oiliness, and other issues.
  • Can I accomplish everything I want to on my own? – Home skin care can only do so much. If you’re looking to remove existing problems, you’re better off seeing a professional for guidance. Issues like wrinkles, brown spots, red spots, and loose skin might be minimally impacted by home products, but they’re not going to be properly treated without in-office procedures.*
